Pipeline Bridges

The Trans Alaska Pipeline System crosses 13 river bridges as it progresses across the state of Alaska. Most notably, TAPS crosses the Yukon River at pipeline milepost 353.

The E.L. Patton Yukon River Bridge was named after Edward Patton who served as president of Alyeska during pipeline construction. The 2,295 foot-long bridge was completed in 1979.

The bridge provides a river crossing for the pipeline and allows vehicle access to the Dalton Highway, the major supply line for the North Slope.
